New careers are opening up as the science of energy efficiency evaluation is integrated into mainstream decision-making for the energy industry including air quality and greenhouse gas issues. Skills required to do so include an understanding of the energy utility industry, market research and analysis, statistical design and analysis, policymaking, social and behavioral sciences, field research (energy measurement, interviewing), and solid communication skills.
